WHAT IS ALLERGIC DERMATITIS?

Allergic contact dermatitis is a manifestation of an allergic response caused by contact with a substance. Symptoms include red bumps that may form moist, weeping blisters, warm ,tender and oozing and later becomes scaly, thickened lesions.

Skin is the largest organ of our body with a surface area over six feet, makes up around 16% of our total body weight.

Basically the functions of skin are protection, sensation, excretion, heat regulation and synthesis of vitamin D.

Naturally fresh and healthy skin is a protector of our body and an expression of beauty whereas unhealthy skin is a real malice to our body making vivid obstacles to the manifestation of true beauty.

According to Ayurveda, dermatitis is not only due to allergens, but it may arise due to irregularity in internal metabolism which can happen due to several causative factors:

Food habits: which includes irregular intake of food, excess intake of oily food, spicy food, unhygienic food, canned food, frequent use of soft drinks and other beverages, junk food etc.

Physical activities: Like exposure to sun, exposure to dust.

Chemical exposure.

Psychological factors: Depression, anxiety, sleeplessness.

  HOW ALLERGIC DERMATITIS MANIFEST?

Allergic dermatitis is a hypersensitivity reaction that affects people who have been previously sensitive to contact. According to Ayurveda, allergic contact dermatitis occurs due to the above mentioned causative factors which leads to the imbalance of vata and kapha (the two basic elements of the body) leading to indigestion (Agnimandhya). This results in the formation of toxins which causes vitiation of rakta and medho dhatu (sebaceous glands) and thereby produces the symptoms of allergic contact dermatitis.
