INTRODUCTION

Netra Njavara is a specialized Ayurvedic therapy used to treat various ailments of eyes like dry eyes, myopia, astigmatism, retinitis pigmentosa, eye strain, dark circles etc.

“Netra” means the eyes and “Njavara” means a special kind of preparation made by using Navara rice along with medicated milk. Netra Njavara is a procedure in which a small pottali is prepared by using Njavara rice along with medicated milk and gentle massage is done by using this pottali to both the eyes simultaneously as prescribed by an Ayurvedic consultant in a systematic way

MODE OF ACTION OF NETRA NJAVARA

In Netra Njavara the medicines used are njavara rice, milk and medicated powders which are having the pharmacological actions like anti-inflammatory, Muscle relaxation, antioxidant property and skin nourishment property.

As the medicine is applied, it enters the skin of upper eye and lower eye lip, reaches the ocular muscles thereby strengthens the muscles, nourishes the eye lids, improves circulation and thus helps to clear the disorders.
