Anal Fissure
An Anal fissure is a linear ulcer in the lining of the anal canal, extending from the the anal opening and are usually located posteriorly in the midline.
Anal fissure may be superficial and deep or acute and chronic.
Acute: Acute fissure heals spontaneously by itself within 6 to 8 weeks.
Chronic: There intensity of pain will be less ,takes longer time to heal and may need medical intervention.

1. Constipation: fissures are usually due to passage of large and hard stool.
2. Sedentary life style: No physical exercise may cause hard stools which inturn leads to fissure.
3. Irregular food habits: Improper and untimely food.
4. In females usually happens during pregnancy and child birth.
5. Crohn’s disease.
6. Ulcerative colitis
7. Low dietary fiber intake and less intake of liquid.
The initial line of management is the correction of digestion and metabolism so as to avoid constipation. Fissure in ano can be treated by some special treatments which is being explained in the classics of Ayurveda.
