How Greeva Vasti Works
Preparation (Purva Karma)
The patient lies prone or seated. The cervical area is prepped with a gentle oil massage using warming medicated oils, such as Maha , Creating the Oil Dam
A leak-proof dough ring (Basti Kunda) is crafted around the neck using black gram flour, forming a reservoir for the oil.
Principal Therapy (Pradhana Karma)
Warm, medicated oil is poured into the reservoir and maintained at a therapeutic temperature (about 40 °C) for 20–45 minutes. Gentle circular strokes may be added to enhance absorption.
Post-Treatment Care (Paschat Karma)
The oil is removed, the area cleansed with herbal decoction, followed by mild steam (Swedana) and rest. Patients are advised against exposure to cold or strenuous activity immediately after.
