Sarvanga Taila Dhara (Pizhichil)
Therapeutic Oil Pouring for Neuromuscular and Degenerative Conditions
Pizhichil, also known as Sarvanga Taila Dhara, is a classical Ayurvedic therapy where warm, medicated oil is poured in a continuous stream over the entire body. The term Pizhichil means “squeezing” referring to the traditional method of squeezing warm oil from cloth. This therapy is administered by two trained therapists under the guidance of an Ayurvedic physician.
A unique blend of Snehana (oleation) and Swedana (sudation), it is also referred to as Snehayukta Swedana—deeply nourishing and sweat-inducing at the same time.

Mode of Action:
- The medicated oil, when poured from a consistent height and at a controlled temperature, penetrates the skin due to its lipid solubility, allowing rapid absorption through the cell membranes.
- The therapy induces vasodilation, enhancing blood circulation and cellular metabolism, promoting oxygenation and toxin removal.
- Sensory stimulation of the skin reduces neuromuscular tension and improves nerve conduction.
- It rejuvenates cell organelles, improves neuromuscular coordination, and restores the normal function of muscles and organs.
- The warmth and rhythm of the procedure help relax muscles, improve flexibility, and support neurological recovery.
Key Benefits:
Deep muscle relaxation and nerve stimulation
Enhanced blood circulation and tissue nourishment
Detoxification and cellular rejuvenation
Relief from stiffness, spasticity, and muscular weakness
Calms the nervous system and improves sleep
